The Weather Channel television network was awarded at the 40th Annual News and Documentary Emmy® Awards for Outstanding Science, Medical or Environmental Report for its segment on the dangers of tornadoes using Immersive Mixed Reality storytelling. The segment aired on AMHQ, the network’s signature morning show.

September Fast Company’s 2019 Innovation by Design Awards
The Weather Channel television network’s Immersive Mixed Reality experience was honored in Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards for 2019 in the Best Design North America category. Innovation by Design is the only competition to honor creative work at the intersection of design, business, and innovation.

May Promax North America and Global Awards 2019
The Weather Channel secured 12 finalist nominations across a diverse group of categories in the 2019 Promax awards. The Promax Awards honor companies that showcase innovation and creativity in entertainment marketing and design.

April Morning Consult
The Weather Channel was named to Morning Consult’s “Most Loved Brands in America,” list. The network ranked #16 out of the top 25 brands on the list, and serves as the only television network in the ranking. According to Morning Consult, this list includes brands that define American culture and commerce.

To determine the rankings, Morning Consult analyzed more than 400,000 survey interviews from Morning Consult Brand Intelligence, measuring consumer sentiment across favorability, trust, community impact, and Net Promoter Score.

Harris Poll EquiTrend named The Weather Channel, “TV News Brand of the Year” for the 9th consecutive year. Moreover, the network received the highest Equity Score and was rated most trusted and most loved among TV News brands included in the study, which is based on opinions from more than 45,000 U.S. consumers.

The Weather Channel was named a winner in the Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality category in the 2019 Cablefax Tech Awards for its Immersive Mixed Reality technology.

The Weather Channel’s Local Now was named a finalist in the 2019 Digiday Video Awards in the “Best Streaming OTT Platform” category; this category is defined as “a streaming/OTT platform that is successfully delivering video content through engaging user experiences and amplified monetization tools.” Overall, the Digiday Video Awards recognize the companies, campaigns and technology using video to modernize media and marketing.

January National Weatherperson of the Year Award

In a poll conducted by Ipsos, which studied sentiment towards American media, The Weather Channel ranked number one in trustworthiness. Ipsos is one of the world’s leading independent market research companies controlled and managed by research professionals. This survey was conducted with the American public to better understand how Americans currently view the press and public support for efforts to restrict journalism.

Our submission discussed how The Weather Channel provided breaking coverage of this urgent and evolving story, totalling 188 hours of continuous, live reporting, both in-the-field and from the studio.
