Nora Zimmett is President of News and Original Series for Weather Group, overseeing all aspects of live programming, emergency storm coverage and longform reality series for The Weather Channel and the network’s climate brand, Pattrn. She also oversees all weather content across the network’s digital platforms, including The Weather Channel’s TV streaming app.
Zimmett has been a driving force behind The Weather Channel’s Emmy Award-winning Immersive Mixed Reality (IMR) technology and AI-assisted production tools, including systems that power tropical weather updates and emergency alerts. Since joining Weather Group in 2014, Zimmett has led production of the network’s flagship morning show AMHQ (America’s Morning Headquarters) and primetime show Weather Unfiltered, along with popular original series such as Rocky Mountain Wreckers, Timber Titans, and Deep Water Salvage. She has also developed broadcast syndication programming for Allen Media Group, such as Weather Gone Viral, Storm of Suspicion, and SOS: How to Survive.
Under her leadership the network has earned four National News and Documentary Emmy Awards in 2019, 2021, 2024 and 2025, along with a Daytime Emmy award for Uncharted Adventure in 2023.
Prior to joining Weather Group, she served as co-creator and executive producer of New Day Weekend and Smerconish at CNN, where she earned an Emmy Award for her coverage of the 2012 presidential election. Earlier in her career, she held senior producer and producer roles at Bloomberg Television and Fox News Channel.
