Walker Snowden
On-Camera Meteorologist, Local Now
Walker Snowden is an award-winning on-camera meteorologist for Local Now. You can catch him providing weather updates throughout the day for more than 40 cities across America.
Prior to joining Local Now in May 2023, Snowden was a meteorologist at KTVE-KARD in Monroe, Louisiana. There, he refined his forecasting skills, covering active tornadoes and providing crucial updates during severe weather events. Snowden’s most significant weather coverage included the devastating EF-4 Rolling Fork, Mississippi tornado (March 2023).
Snowden is a Florida native. He grew up in Tallahassee and was captivated by the Gulf Coast's dynamic weather patterns, including thunderstorms and tropical systems, early in his life. This exposure ignited his passion for meteorology.
Ultimately, Snowden attended the State University of New York at Oswego and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology. There, he specialized in predicting snowstorms and lake-effect snow, drawing inspiration from distinguished alumni such as Al Roker and Tom Nizol.
Snowden has also been recognized by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters with the esteemed “Best Weathercast” award in 2023, a testament to his dedication and expertise in the field.
Although the weather is a big part of Snowden’s life, as a former collegiate swimmer, he has a passion for exercise and loves staying active. Snowden is also a staunch advocate for preserving Florida's wildlife and beaches, embodying a commitment to environmental conservation.
