The Weather Channel Debuts the World’s First AI Groundhog in Advance of Annual Groundhog Day Coverage

ATLANTA – January 28, 2026 – The Weather Channel television network has announced the debut of Chuck Burrows, the world’s first AI prediction-obsessed groundhog. The new on-air and social media personality will begin appearing across programming starting late January, with promotional support around Groundhog Day, and a dedicated social media presence that continues beyond February 2.

Part winter veteran, part cultural pundit, Chuck goes beyond the forecast, using instinct and timing to predict sports, awards shows, and major cultural moments.

On Groundhog Day, Chuck will broadcast from the studio during America’s Morning Headquarters (AMHQ) starting at 6 a.m. ET, while Jen Carfagno reports live from Gobbler’s Knob as crowds gather to see if Punxsutawney Phil predicts six more weeks of winter.

“I’m not here to discuss maps or models,” said Chuck Burrows. “The meteorologists do a fantastic job handling that. I’m here to tell you what it feels like out there. I’m here to give you the perspective of someone who’s lived through more winters than most, and isn’t afraid to make the call.”

Viewers can follow Chuck’s predictions, behind-the-scenes moments, and ask him anything on his official social media accounts:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Chuck Burrows to the team,” said Byron Allen, Founder/Chairman/CEO of Allen Media Group, parent company of The Weather Channel television network. “His debut underscores our commitment to innovation, audience engagement, and personality-driven storytelling. Also, he’s an AI groundhog, so we’re having lots of fun with Chuck.”

With Chuck Burrows on the roster, the forecast just got bolder and a lot more fun.
